About Årstasällskapet för Fredrika Bremer-studier

Årstasällskapet för Fredrika Bremer-studier (The Årsta Society for studies of Fredrika Bremer) was founded in 1985, in order to share knowledge of Fredrika Bremer's life and writing. The society encourages research on Fredrika Bremer and seeks to make her work available to the public, among other things through publications the book Årsta slott: en kulturskatt i Haninge (by Gunnel Stenqvist and Gunnel Furuland) being one example of this.

Fredrika Bremer's life and work are also recognized through a series of events, where the annual celebration of Fredrika’s Day on September 19, is one of the highlights. The atmospheric Christmas concert in Österhaninge parish church, where Fredrika herself used to attend, is also well worth a visit.

A newsletter is published and distributed to members of the society at least four times a year, with interesting reading, an event itinerary and other information related to Fredrika Bremer.

The association also manages a unique collection of objects related to Fredrika Bremer at the castle museum of Årsta Castle, where they can be viewed during guided tours.

The society continuously strives to improve and expand the studies of Fredrika Bremer. Please give us feedback or join us, by contacting us at arstasallskapet@gmail.com
